Actually, happy belated birthday - Charisma turned 20 on July 3. Charisma is the horse that has been at our barn for the longest - even before my horses - and is owned by one of the other boarders. She is exactly the same red bay with no markings as Dawn, although she is more dappled than Dawn. Charisma hasn't shown up in many of my posts because she isn't turned out with the mare herd. Charisma is a Morgan, of Lambert breeding, and as with most Morgans, she is an easy keeper - in fact I think she could gain weight simply by smelling hay. She was turned out with the mares for a number of years for a limited number of hours every day, but she just got fatter, and fatter, and fatter, despite being worked most days. And she began to exhibit some signs of insulin resistance, and was tested for it, and now she is only turned out in a dry lot. The amount of hay she gets is also restricted.
The result is that she's lost most of that excess weight over the past year or so, and is looking better than ever. Here she is - isn't she pretty?
She's an intelligent mare with a distinct personality - but then I especially like mares!

Happy Birthday Charisma. She's a pretty girl and she's looking really good for her age. It's too bad she gains so easily and can't be with the others. I like mares with distinct personalities too, they're so much more interesting and fun.
Happy Birthday Charisma! I love Morgans. We lived just a few miles from the morgan horse farm owned by the Univ. of Vermont when we lived in Vermont. It was a neat place.
She really is a pretty mare, and looking good too!!
Happy Belated Birthday, Charisma. You are one good looking lady. Trim and fit too, my dear.
Happy Birthday Charisma. Same day as Q ;)
She looks just wonderful :D
Oh, she does look great! I wonder if Panama will be a ridiculously easy keeper like that as he ages. He's already pretty easy, but I think it's because he gets the same amount of food as the other horses, even though he's 200-300 pounds smaller. That's the problem with having them all hayed together in the pasture!
I love mares too! I have not one bad thing to say about them.
Happy Birthday, dear Charisma!
Wow, she looks great for her age! I would guess she is a much younger horse from that picture! Happy B-day pretty bay mare!
