Dawn Does the Shoulder Rest

Yesterday when I was grooming, Dawn wanted to do the shoulder rest, and our lovely barn lady managed to get some cell phone pictures:

Complete happiness and relaxation:

  2. There are some circles that call that a "horse hug!" Sweet.
Looks like maybe you are re-discovering your "connection.

  6. Of course this is very moving to me. A real commentary about trust and respect. What a sweet girl.

  7. That's awesome. And it's great to see some photos (hint hint, nudge nudge). lol.

I really miss this kind of interaction with horses! Brumby can be quite pushy and bites so the first few months I had to discourage physical closeness like that. I started being able to gradually relax the "rules" and invite more of it but after his time off he forgot my boundaries and was back to whacking me with his head, dancing in the cross ties, nipping my clothes etc. Thankfully he remembered pretty quickly and has been good this week. Still a long way from cuddles though!

  8. How sweet! Panama does this sometimes, but still being kind of babyish, he always ends it by grabbing my hood, hat, or ponytail in his mouth and giving it a gentle yank. So I never have a chance to relax and just enjoy the snuggle -- I have to be prepared to pull away as soon as his mouth starts moving. ;o)

Chance does the same thing, I think it is so adorable when they do that! My other two don't and probably never will!
