Horse Search Sidebars

To help us all keep track - including me! - I've added a new sidebar with horses still under consideration, and also back-burner project horses to reevaluate in the spring.

The dealer who had horse #14 - the roan draft cross mare, and who also had this nice paint gelding who was also sold - sent me a few horses to look at today but they didn't pass my first screen so I won't say more about them.  I hope she's got a few more for me to look at  - the QH gelding was just about what I want in terms of conformation and behavior - if you have any comments on him, to point out things I might have missed, please let me know.

  4. Kate,
You say QH, but the ad came up as a very nice chestnut overo, Monte. And he isn't marked as sold. Is it possible that she replaced the QH with this guy (I've done that when one horse 's ad was still good for awhile after he was sold). If so, the overo is also worth looking at!

  5. That Overo reminds me of my horse, Cowboy, and I love my boy! I could point out imperfections, but I have love goggles--therefore, that Overo seems pretty much perfect.

  6. Yay! I like the sidebar. So hard to keep track and I'm so enjoying living vicariously through your horse search. I'ts like a soap opera for the horse obsessed!

  8. I'm bummed for you that the roan mare got sold so quickly. The paint cross gelding they've got up right now looks like a nice ride.

Unless you've already passed on him...

  9. smazourek - thanks - I already passed on him, although he looks very sweet - he' also a tad too tall for me. He resembles our Lily a bit in the head/neck/front end - she's a QH/Oldenburg cross - but I didn't much like his hindquarter structure - he's pretty straight behind and there's not much muscle development there either, and if you watch the videos he's not really using his hind end all that well - could be sore in the back or hindquarters, could just be how he's built.

  10. Looks like that dealer is a good contact, but it reminds me of the dealer I worked with to buy some dressage horses years ago. Lots of nice horses in and our as fast as that. Once a dealer gets s good reputation for finding nice horses, business can really flourish.

Keep in contact and be ready to "jump" to go look at a prospect you like.
