Today is the day, nine years ago, that I lost my wonderful Promise mare.
I will never forget her. If you'd like to read more about her, please visit this post I did last year, and appreciate your horses each and every day that you have them.

Even after years of them not being with us any longer we never forget them. She looks like a wonderful mare.
ReplyDeleteShe was a beautiful mare.
ReplyDelete*virtual hug*
ReplyDeleteAmen to that <3
ReplyDeleteEvery one steals a piece of our hearts. I think Promise took a huge chunk of yours. She was a beauty.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful girl...memories never fade of their spirit. xo
ReplyDeleteI read your tribute and I admit I got a little choked up. She was a wonderful horse and will always be with you because she will live on in your heart. *hug*
ReplyDeletei'm so sorry for your loss, but i'm also glad you had the chance to know such a special mare for a time, even if it was too short. those are the ones we never forget :-)
ReplyDeleteI still choke up when I think of all the horses I have known, starting with my first (I bought him when I was 30 years old) named Uncle Nestor, an AQHA gelding with all the personality of the man for whom he was named, his breeder's uncle. All our fur family members live on in our hearts. We are richer today -- and better people -- because of all the memories we made with them when we were fortunate enough to have them in our lives.
ReplyDeleteShe was suh a beauty! I am so sorry for your loss. :(
ReplyDeleteHer expression is so Keen~
ReplyDeleteSo glad you loved her Kate!
Take care, and hugs to your two at the farm and the ones too, that are retired... they all are priceless to the heart!

No- you never forget-she looks kind and intelligent , I think with a mare the bond you share is much stronger, enjoy your happy memories !
ReplyDeleteI'm very sorry for your loss. I feel the same way about my Eddie. Although he's been gone five months I still think about him every day, and shed a tear for him almost every day. I don't know that that will ever change, but I'm ok with that. That huge feeling of loss just means that I loved him that much.
ReplyDeleteThe special ones just do that to us. It's the price we pay for having such a blessing in our lives :)
So sorry for your loss. I have yet to lose a horse but I have lost some dogs that were lifelong companions. I know how palpable the grief is... even 9 years later. I believe in heaven and I believe all of God's creation is there. So too is your sweet Promise.
ReplyDeleteShe'll be waiting at the gate.
ReplyDeleteI loved your tribute to her. She was definitely a special girl and one who touched your life in a huge way. She will never be forgotten.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you and all who loved her on this difficult day.
Nice.
