Closing in on a Name

So here are the possible choices so far for (the erstwhile) Drifter's new name - all to be shortened to Red for daily use - I really like Red, as it captures his color as well as his spirit:

Redman
Redwood
Red Drift

Reactions?  Other suggestions including Red?

  1. If you like Red, then Red it is.

    How about "Ever Reddy?" *G*

  2. We have a quarter horse named Red at the youth ranch where we volunteer. I like that name. Why not just plain 'Red?'

  3. Red Star, Red Man, Red Storm Rising, Big Red? Found a site online with names for red horses:

I like the Red theme. Good luck!

  4. Redman. A two syllable name is more melodic (to me) and I think "Redman" it a bit more distinguished and has a touch of class.

  6. I think Redwood is lovely. It reminds me of the Redwood forest with tall, strong trees.

  7. I like Redwood, not too far off from Drifter, like driftwood. Either of those names you'll probably just end up calling him Red anyhow. It's a good name!

  10. I'm liking Redwood, too. Strength, size, beauty. I also like Driftwood, but that loses your 'Red'. I didnt particularly care for Red Drift

  12. I like Red - it totally suits him! I would probably be calling him Redman too at some point. I can't seem to stick to a straight name - I'm always adding funny nicknames to my pets.

  13. Wow--true comment--I was going to suggest Red, but stopped myself because I thought you'd think it was too common. I'm not good at thinking up names, but it was the first one that popped into my head when I looked at his picture. Our horse Red is such a wonderful guy...it makes me respect the name that much more. I was thinking last night as I stood out with them and watched him go from horse to horse (they all LOVE him) I wish I had Red's spirit. I want to be like Red. As you can see, I couldn't be happier with your name choice.
